Teesside University’s unique ‘Living Wall’ incorporates ADI screen

ADI installed a giant LED display at Teesside University’s Campus Heart development, providing a dynamic student engagement platform that offers a unique visual aesthetic.

The 36m² screen is seamlessly integrated into the side of the Student Centre and framed by a colourful vertical garden, with the ‘Living Wall’ creating a central focal point for the campus.

ADI’s market-leading LED hardware provides the university with a multi-purpose platform where the latest news and campus activities can be quickly and easily shared with students, staff and visitors.

Chris Walker, Assistant Director of External Relations, Teesside University, commented,

We’ve chosen to enrich the campus experience through the latest display technology, transforming an ordinary building into an incredible visual spectacle that also provides an important communication and promotional resource for the University”.

The screen offers a high impact channel for the promotion of Teesside University courses and to showcase students’ work – particularly from the School of Arts & Media and School of Computing. The display has also been integrated into Undergraduate Open Days and the university plan to live broadcast graduation ceremonies beginning this summer, in addition to other live events in the support of an enhanced student experience.

Programming for the large-format screen is managed by the University’s central marketing team – who generate the majority of content – but contributions are also invited from other schools and departments, including the Students’ Union.

In addition to flexibility and versatility of use, ADI’s technology delivers reliability and long-lifespan when compared with alternative display solutions. ADI specified their 12mm outdoor LED product for the project, which delivers wide viewing angles and a sharp image from almost any perspective around the Campus Heart site.
