A Royal Wedding is always a big occasion and 2011 saw the biggest one since Charles and Diana tied the knot twenty years before, as Prince William wed Kate Middleton.
With a global television audience of some 2 billion, the world truly was watching, whilst in the UK millions took to the streets and parks as the nation partied for the weekend.
As you can imagine, it was a busy weekend for ADI as we supplied over 20 screens for events across the UK, including the three screens in London’s Hyde Park, where the country’s biggest festivities took place as crowds of over 400,000 gathered to celebrate the wedding.
The capital’s events were managed by Jack Morton Worldwide, who chose three of ADI’s giant iCONIC 100 screens to be placed in an arc, enabling as many people to watch as possible. ADI also supplied an iCONIC 60 screens which was located in Green Park.
Throughout the day, the screen predominantly played out The BBC’s coverage, and this was complimented by additional promotional content and live coverage from the three camera outside broadcast team that ADI also supplied.
Outside of London
It wasn’t just London that had wedding fever – the whole of the UK was firmly in the spirit, with parities organised in towns and cities across the UK. ADI’s iCONIC mobile screens featured at a number of these including Keswick, Wells-next-the-Sea, Powis Castle, Skipton, Southampton, and Nunnington Hall.
The wide range of iCONIC screens available (they range from 12 to 100m²) meant that ADI were able to supply screens suitable for events of all sizes, from street parties with a hundred people to events with thousands of revellers!
