Giant Virtuality screen on Academy of Performing Arts
Outdoor LED Screen installation at Birmingham Ormiston Academy of Performing Arts.
ADI’s 55m² screen has transformed the exterior of a new West Midlands Academy.
Newly opened in 2011, Birmingham’s Ormistion Academy specialises in Creative, Digital and Performing Arts, modelled on the famous BRIT School in London.
As well as a 200-seat theatre, four dance studios, six rehearsal studios, an open air amphitheatre, a TV studio, a radio station, recording studio and a 3D animation room, the cutting edge academy features a 55m² Virtuality outdoor screen.
As befitting a digital arts academy, the screen is in super wide cinematic aspect ratio and ADI have provided a full content control suite allowing for simple remote desktop control of inputs.
The control room is fed via HDMI from various sources in the Academy, which include numerous HD camera links allowing for live broadcast of performances from different areas.
The screen forms an important part of the state-of-the-art learning experience and also acts as a platform to share students’ work with others.
The landscaped area in front allows the screen to be integrated in live performances and also provides a seating space for students to gather and watch.
"ADI has delivered a fantastic screen that sits comfortably amid the other state-of-the-art facilities we have at BOA, and being integrated with cameras around the Academy means we use it as often as possible. The flexibility of being able to use the screen as a backdrop for live performances also adds to its value and usability."
