ADI make an impact at the first Saudi Cup

World’s most valuable horse race features over 500sqm of ADI screens

The inaugural Saudi Cup (28th-29th February 2020) saw the prestigious King Abdulaziz Racetrack transformed with more than 500sqm of LED from ADI. The most valuable horse race in history, with a $20 million prize fund, featured 22 high resolution screens installed at the venue to broadcast live coverage, elevate brand partners and assist spectators with wayfinding.

Exceptional installations for a historic Race Day

Known for delivering spectacular LED solutions for the world’s most famous fixtures and festivals – most notably Royal Ascot, the Cheltenham Festival and Qatar Goodwood – ADI devised multiple large-format installations for The Saudi Cup. Featuring 4mm SMD they included a staggering 230sqm super-wide screen facing the Red Sea Pavilion, an 80sqm display opposite the Saudi Cup grandstand, and a 40sqm screen in the Secret Garden. The larger screens were designed in 32:9 formats, providing the flexibility to broadcast in cinematic widescreen or run two 16:9 feeds side by side. This allowed live race coverage to be complimented by race cards, digital brand promotion and official timings courtesy of Longines.

In addition to the huge image magnification screens ADI helped the venue provide a seamless spectator journey with the installation of 19 portrait wayfinding screens. Located along main thoroughfares, live event zones and information points this network of high res LED signage offered race-day relevant content to enhance experience, while also creating digital platforms that partner brands like Rolls Royce Motor Cars and Saudia could utilise throughout The Saudi Cup.

ADI also managed the video distribution to every screen, delivering HD feeds, including coverage from host broadcaster Saudi TV.

We’ve continued to grow our live event projects in KSA and its fantastic to have had the opportunity to bring our experience in horseracing to a new, high profile fixture within the sport – and within the Middle East. Our capabilities in LED and video distribution were part of a much wider solution at the King Abdulaziz Racetrack, with our venue consultancy and centralised project management bringing added value and efficiencies.
