When we partnered with Sheffield United F.C. earlier this year to deliver a full digital transformation at Bramall Lane, the ambition was to create a platform that elevated every single home matchday.
The major stadium technology upgrade included the installation of cutting-edge digital perimeter systems, a high-resolution LED stadium screen, a mid-tier ribbon and LED displays within the vomitories, alongside a large-format two-tier external screen above the Bramall Lane reception.
ADI’s lead producer for Sheffield United and our Client Engagement teams made the trip across to the Blades to watch their end-of-February fixture against Coventry City F.C. providing the perfect stage to see it all in action.
Matchday at Bramall Lane
From the moment supporters approached the ground, the impact of the new LED infrastructure was clear. The external Tony Currie screens welcomed fans with bold, dynamic content – line-ups, partner messages, and countdowns to kick-off. Inside the bowl, the mid-tier digital ribbon and digitised vomitories on the John Street Family Stand worked seamlessly to guide, inform and excite.
But what stood out most was how naturally the technology blended into the matchday ritual. The build-up graphics rolled into player arrival content, which then transitioned into warm-up features and sponsor activations. When the teams emerged, the stadium came alive – coordinated visuals swept around the ribbon, energising the crowd and amplifying the atmosphere.
This is where LED becomes more than advertising space. It becomes a storytelling tool. A way to connect fans to the moment, to build anticipation, and to ensure every seat feels part of something bigger.
Before Kick-Off
Long before the turnstiles opened, our creative and content teams were building the matchday programme. Player graphics, fixture-specific animations, highlight VT packages and sponsor idents were developed and scheduled to complement the stadium experience.
From the first exterior welcome message to the post-match wrap-up, the Coventry fixture allowed us to capture it all – from the first exterior welcome message to the post-match wrap-up – documenting how the technology performs under real matchday conditions. The result is not just a stadium upgrade, but a fully integrated content ecosystem.
Remote Production
Behind the scenes, our Live Venue delivery team were in constant motion. Powered by our broadcast fibre network, we managed content remotely from our gallery, distributing assets across every digital touchpoint inside the stadium.
Our matchday gallery is the engine room. Operators, producers and technicians worked in sync, cueing graphics, replay wipes and partner spots in real time. This remote capability gives the club flexibility and control, while ensuring broadcast-quality presentation throughout the ground.

Seeing the platform come to life on a live matchday is always the most rewarding moment of a project like this. From the moment supporters arrive at Bramall Lane to the final whistle, every screen and every piece of content plays a role in shaping the atmosphere inside the stadium. What stood out during the Coventry fixture was how the technology integrated into the natural rhythm of matchday – enhancing the experience for fans while also creating new opportunities for the club and its partners. It’s a great example of how the right infrastructure, combined with thoughtful content and delivery, can truly transform the live stadium environment.
