Record screen solution at Silverstone for full capacity British Grand Prix

FORMULA 1 FANS ARE BACK!

Not only did this year’s F1 British GP mark the largest crowd for a sporting occasion in the UK since the start of the pandemic, it boasted the biggest number of screens at any live event in the country.

A colossal 49 ADI screens were positioned around the world-famous circuit, keeping capacity crowds of 140,000 spectators a day fully engaged and entertained over the Grand Prix weekend.

supersized screen deployment

Silverstone were thrilled to welcome back over 350,000 F1 fans, with a carefully planned and enhanced network of large-format LED screens across the circuit; providing live coverage to those in the grandstands, hospitality lounges and prime trackside viewing points.

The biggest displays in the iCONIC mobile fleet were out in force, with giant iCONIC 100s and the exclusive iCONIC 120SW offering unrivalled live coverage at popular spots including Club Corner, Becketts and Stowe, while a host of unique, modular screens featured on Silverstone Wing and Hangar Straight, amongst other locations.

ADI’s record solution was a huge logistical and technical project, with the build commencing a week before Silverstone gates opened to fans. Our team not only deployed state-of-the-art event LED screens, but supporting structures and HD signal distribution right across the site.

“ADI were vital in helping us plan and deliver an unforgettable Formula 1 British Grand Prix for our capacity crowds. No other supplier could have provided a comparable solution or service, with the team always quick to respond to last-minute changes and requests, which come with delivering a covid-secure event on this scale. The record amount of screen infrastructure kept all our fans engaged, entertained and informed over the F1 weekend”

The event was made all the more exciting with Silverstone chosen to debut a brand new Formula One format, and the first-ever F1 sprint; a 17 lap sprint race which awarded points to the top 3 finishers, and decided the starting order for Sunday’s GP. With plenty of fans, drama, crashes and rivalry – and an eight BGP win for Lewis Hamilton – it was definitely a British Grand Prix to remember!

“It was fantastic to see fans back at Silverstone, and not only be part of the team delivering the live F1 experience, but deploying a record solution at the circuit with enhanced screens, staff and video distribution. Every year we’ve grown our service offering to Silverstone, and it’s so positive to see this iconic occasion in motorsport and live entertainment stronger than ever in 2021”
