Reflecting on 2023: A memorable year (Part 2)

It’s time for part two of our look back over 2023.  For those of you who missed it, you can catch the first six months here.

We kicked off the second half of the year with a trip round France. Surely the world’s ultimate test of endurance and fortitude, The Tour de France is a gruelling 3-week programme that takes in some of the country’s highest peaks before it’s legendary finish along the Champs Élysées in Paris. This is the 5th year we’ve worked on The Tour and our biggest one yet with multiple screens provided to entertain fans at the start and end of every stage.

Our events team were also at Goodwood for the legendary Festival of Speed, whilst our installations team began a stadium-wide digital transformation at Bolton Wanderers Toughsheet Community Stadium.

Another massive month for cycling as The UCI World Championships came to Glasgow. ADI provided a full sports presentation solution covering screens, content, and delivery across multiple sites. Meanwhile, the next Metrocentre installation went in – this time a three-sided lift shaft screen – while we were proud to share the news of a new digital display partnership with our local team, Preston North End.

More Sports Presentation as we entered autumn – this time at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships at Lee Valley – while we were back in Newcastle to help the legendary Mo Farah celebrate his last ever Great North Run. And another big project announcement – this time a digital development at Bradford’s Darley Street Market.

The 2023 Ryder Cup took place in Italy, and a number of ADI screens helped record crowds enjoy a comfortable victory for Europe. Also on the continent, our iCONIC H helped to activate ski brand Salomon at the High Five Festival in Annecy. Back in the UK, London was in the midst of a two-week NFL takeover – our iCONIC X provided a great flexible space to activate EA’s John Madden 24 game at Battersea Power Station.

It’s been a big year of cycling for us and in November we celebrated the UCI Mountain Bike World Series, who we’ve travelled around the globe with this year.  The NFL party moved from the UK to Germany, and we joined them in Frankfurt, this time with a modular solution.  We also reviewed our latest installation at Aberdeen FC – including 2 LED screens, digital perimeter, and digital ribbon.

We’ve gone netball-nuts at ADI this December as we provided a full sports presentation solution to help to activate the three-match series between England and South Africa. This is just the beginning of a 4-year contract, so look out for more netball stories next year 👍

Our team travelled to Chile for the final chapter of the 2023 Extreme E Championship, while we ended the year on a high with the news that we’d been shortlisted for three categories in the Festival Supplier Awards again. We won Best Production last year for The Birmingham Commonwealth Games, so wish us luck for more success in 2024! 🤞

That’s a wrap!  2023 has been a great year for ADI and we can’t wait to leap into 2024 and continue making amazing happen!
