As we all speed towards the festive holidays, we’re looking on back on what has been an incredible year of achievement for ADI – and for all of our teams and partners.
This year, we’ve transformed hundreds of events, sports venues, and public spaces and places. Whether it’s been digitising venues with state-of-the-art LED and AV solutions, making matchdays happen, or engaging audiences worldwide with Sports Presentation; our teams have been a vital part of evolving the events, sports and retail and leisure sectors with our wide-ranging digital solutions and creative know-how.
We’re really excited to share some of our upcoming projects in the New Year, but meanwhile, we’ve enjoyed looking back on what has been an amazing 2023! Here are a few of our favourite news stories from each month, look out for part II coming soon…
January
We kicked off 2023 with a giant 121 sqm LED screen installation on the exterior wall of the Red Mall entrance at Metro Centre – the first of 3 new screens at the popular leisure venue. This month we also installed a super-wide LED screen into Oxford United’s Kassam Stadium alongside a digiBOARD perimeter advertising system. The Formula E season launched with a HUGE deployment of LED for Diriyah E Prix, including the revolutionary debut of motorsport’s first digital pitlane.

In February we installed our second outdoor digital-out-of-home platform for Printworks, on Danzig Street in Manchester, as part of their huge revamp. We created some inspirational content alongside Newcastle United Foundation, showcasing their life-changing work. Our LED screens headed for the slopes, where we installed a massive super-wide temporary screen for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, which was accompanied by a range of mobile screens – it’s the first time our production suite has had to be helicoptered into an event!
Following the installation of a giant LED screen at the Withy Grove entrance in November, ADI have installed their second digital-out-of-home platform at the iconic @MCRPrintworks venue, as part of the wider multi-million pound revamp.

Some fantastic Sports Presentation projects in March, showcasing a selection of Pyro and fireworks! We provided the ceremonies for the Conti Cup Women’s Final between Arsenal and Chelsea, and the YONEX All England Open Badminton Championships, where we used screens and digiBOARD to create an impressive Athlete’s entrance. It was a big month for Horseracing with the return of the Cheltenham Festival – we delivered a range of mobile and modular screens across the course.

ADI’s Venue Technology Roadshow took to European shores this month, visiting several Dutch clubs, showcasing the latest digital platforms and commercial models for stadiums. Our Live Events division attended the world’s greatest steeple chase – The Grand National – where our big screens brought all the action closer to the fans. Also, another huge UK event, the TCS London Marathon, where our screens and LED totems helped to activate brands and give participants wayfinding and other information on the day to help the event run smoothly..

We’ve been lucky enough to be part of the Royal Family’s most celebrated occasions, and in May, in was a great honour to provide big screens for the King’s Coronation. Many town centres not only used our screens to show the King’s Coronation, but also used the opportunity to create Eurovision Fan Zones, transforming areas into party hubs to celebrate Eurovision being held in the UK, Leeds Millennium Square was one of these locations.. We also had some big wins at the Eventex Awards, where we won Platinum and Silver for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and the World Gymnastics Championships Liverpool 2022!

In June, we announced a partnership with League One club Port Vale FC to transform Vale Park with a huge 72 sqm superwide screen! We also took a look at how our teams create ideas for sports presentation and turn them into reality, showcasing the UEFA Women’s Champions League Final Ceremonies. We also completed a brand-new food court screen at Manchester’s iconic shopping destination – The Trafford Centre.
