ADI provided multiple screens a the world-famous race came to Ireland
The Northern Irish capital Belfast hosted the Big Start – the official launch of one of elite cycling’s most famous races. ADI were on-hand to deliver large viewing screen solutions for the duration of the three day event.
The official opening ceremony for the Giro d’Italia took place outside Belfast’s City Hall and drew huge crowds, with 200 cyclists from competing teams announced in turn during a ‘Come meet the riders’ evening. An iCONIC 25 was located outside the venue to broadcast live footage through-out, and the same screen was also positioned in nearby Donegall Square when it hosted the finish line for ‘Stage 1’ of the race the following day. With its lightweight, manoeuvrable trailers, the iCONIC 25 could be easily moved between the two locations, then operational within an hour.
The city’s historic Titanic Quarter was chosen as the start point for the race, and to welcome crowds eager to cheer on the riders, an outdoor fan park was created. Big screens are an essential part of fan zones, so outside the ultra-modern Titanic Belfast attraction an iCONIC 100 provided unmissable coverage and exclusive content. The public could sit in the landscaped area in front of the screen and enjoy the programming on offer throughout the day, even when the peloton had left.
