Toughsheet Community Stadium leads the way to become the most digitally advanced club in League One

With an ambition to elevate the matchday experience for fans and drive more commercial revenue streams, Bolton Wanderers teamed up with ADI to undertake an extensive digital infrastructure project.

The Club opted for two new 26sqm super wide LED screens in the South East and North West corners, both featuring 10 mm screen resolution, as well as a 360 degree mid-tier LED ribbon, and a four-sided camera-facing digiBOARD perimeter system.

In Bowl Transformation

A combination of ADI’s stadium LED and content play-out solutions have created a completely integrated digital platform at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, and the most impressive of its kind in League One.

Bolton Wanderers’ existing scoreboard was replaced with two new 26 sqm landscape screens with improved 10mm resolution. Along the high-level middle tier, 432 metres of LED Ribbon has been installed, while a transformative four-sided LED perimeter system has been installed pitch-side.

Integrated Platform and Remote Production

Alongside market-leading stadium hardware and software, ADI are responsible for delivering fully remote matchday production service for Wanderers through a Live Venue Broadcast Fibre Network. Removing the requirement for a broadcast studio to be built on site, ADI teams manage the remote delivery of an immersive live programme and fan-facing content, match after match.

Total Stadium Takeover

While this new tech allows brand partners and the club to reach in-venue and broadcast audiences on matchdays, its use is not just restricted to live games. To mark the end of local celebrity Vernon Kay’s Ultra Ultramarathon for Children in Need, the stadium bowl saw a complete digital take-over, with messages of congratulations and promotion of both the charity and BBC Radio 2 for the occasion.

Next-Gen Technology

ADI’s custom-built MT technology will feature in all three installations and can be found in some of the world’s biggest and most renowned football stadiums, from Borussia Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park to Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.

The next-generation product has been designed and manufactured by ADI’s own in-house team and takes the learnings of over 20 years of LED screen manufacturing to meet the evolving needs of modern-day spectators.

MT is a revolutionary new lightweight tile that is slimmer, more efficient, greener and easier to install and maintain than anything else on the market. The displays will use less energy than ever before, with just a single cable carrying both power and data in and out of the module.

Not only does this state-of-the-art technology improve the way in which supporters take in a Bolton Wanderers home game, this is a fantastic way for the Club to generate additional revenue through the use of advertising in collaboration with our commercial partnerships. For businesses based both locally and nationally, this is a perfect way to expose your brand to an active audience of 20,000+ people on a bi-weekly basis, and we’d love to work with existing and potentially new partners on this exciting step.

The addition of the latest stadium technology has completely revolutionised the Toughsheet Community Stadium putting Bolton Wanderers on a level with Premier League clubs in what they can offer fans in terms of matchday experience.

The new digital infrastructure also completely changes the club’s commercial offering; providing Bolton Wanderers with the tools to generate additional revenue streams locally and nationally. With the addition of Live venue, the club can now also deliver Total Stadium Takeover – when paired with new and exciting content, this creates a unique venue experience inside the Stadia Bowl adding further commercial and experiential value.
